CMU grads use tech expertise to start new 'Burgh business

While working on their second-semester project, three Carnegie Mellon University grad students knew they wanted two things: They wanted to help kids, and they wanted to create something for the medical field. The three met at the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon where students can pitch projects as they complete their degrees.

Even in computer age, society still dependent on paper

Whip out those laptops and Blackberries, but don't throw out the paper. Technology hasn't replaced it quite yet. And it probably never will, said Richard Cox, chair of the Library and Information Science Program at Pitt. "If we even get close to being paperless, I'll long be retired," Cox said.
