Senior guard Jermaine Dixon reinjured his right foot recently and was visiting doctors today to see the extent of his injury. Dixon broke the news on his Twitter page this morning.

Dixon injured his right ankle during the summer, although he couldn't pinpoint a specific date or cause of injury. He had been playing in Pittsburgh's Basketball Club Pro-Am, a summer league for local basketball players, until the injury. His previous injury required surgery and the placement of a pin into his ankle.

As Pitt's only returning starter, Dixon was expecting to be back in time for the start of the 2009-10 season.

The athletic department could not be reached for comment, but could release more information later today.

Check back at www.pittnews.com and the sports desk on Twitter for more updates.
